Pixel School - cathysunu

It is with much excitement that I announce the start of a unique opportunity for anyone interested in learning more about the photography industry. Classes will not just be about taking pictures. We will cover a little bit of photo history, go over the basics of optics, learn how to use the camera, edit photos on the computer, focus on lighting subjects, set up a photo studio, and discuss the different career paths that exist for photographers today, from fine art to commercial and editorial work.

I was always drawn to the art world ever since I was little, but I never dreamed I would end up doing art as a career. I discovered the photography industry by accident having worked as a photo producer in New York. I was handling the back-end logistics for photo shoots for French Vogue, GQ, Harper's Bazaar, and many other fashion brands such as Hermes and Gucci.  I then decided to go back to school to study commercial digital photography. I've dabbled in different areas of the industry and even did a stint as a product photographer for an online shoe company. I eventually struck out on my own as a portrait and event/wedding photographer, and it's been a pretty exciting and satisfying career so far. I've learned a lot about what the job entails and the pros and cons of the business.

I had the opportunity to teach a lighting class in a Chicago photo school, and it was a very rewarding experience, and I hope to pass along my knowledge and passion to those who are eager and willing to learn about photography!

I offer private or group lessons at my home in Lakeway. Please inquire about rates and availability!
